Rugby League 9s round-up

Wigan and Castleford are the only unbeaten teams left in the competition after the Rugby League Nines got underway last night.

The West Conference got underway at Huddersfield and Derwent Park in Workington, with a strong Wigan side winning all three of their games, against Widnes, Salford and Huddersfield.

Castleford pulled off wins over Hull KR, Bradford and Hull in the East Conference to top the table after the first week of games.

Four teams – Huddersfield, Hull, Halifax and the British Police – all failed to win a game as the exciting concept got its first run out in front of an entertained audience.

The merged Cumbria side pulled off a surprise result, defeating Warrington 8-0 in the final game of the night in Workington, to deny the Wolves a 100% record on the evening.

Of the Championship sides involved, both Widnes and Featherstone managed two victories, with most clubs fielding youthful outfits.
