Rudderless Rhinos rumbled by Wigan

Leeds have slumped to their ninth loss in their past 10 games as Wigan ran out comfortable 40-8 winners at Magic Weekend.

The Rhinos woes continued in all competitions as they were defeated easily by one of their main rivals.

Leeds went with Jamie Jones-Buchanan at hooker and 19-year old debutant Sam Hallas on the bench.

The Rhinos started strongly, Kallum Watkins touching down after just six minutes in Newcastle.

But Wigan hit back through George Williams, the halfback setting up Willie Isa for a try.

Isa soon added a second and the Warriors never looked back, taking a 12-4 lead to the break.

Just three minutes into the second half and Williams got over the line for his own score.

Two minutes later Dom Manfredi leapt high to collect Matty Smith‘s bomb and Wigan were in again.

Ben Flower was next to power over off a Sam Tomkins inside pass.

In the 57th minute Zak Hardaker was sin-binned for holding down Josh Charnley in a tackle.

Seven minutes after Leeds had a breakthrough when Mitch Achurch scored after a strong fend and run.

Hardaker looked to have added another try in the dieing stages but it was ruled out by the video referee.

There was still time for Oliver Gildart and Dan Sarginson to add Wigan’s sixth and seventh tries of the night.

2015’s treble winners remain rooted to the bottom of the Super League ladder.
