Featherstone Rovers chief executive Craig Poskitt has hailed Rovers’ 23-16 win over Castleford as one of the greatest days in the club’s history.

Rovers fell behind early in the Challenge Cup tie at the Bigfellas Stadium, but rallied together to produce an upset in front of the television cameras.

Poskitt said: “I’m still pinching myself after yesterday’s fantastic result against Super League opposition. All the coaching staff and players should be immensely proud of their efforts on making the day so memorable.

“To perform at such a high standard for 80 minutes was astounding and some of the defensive skills on show was first class, particularly in the second half.”

Poskitt went onto praise the behaviour of fans at the match after both sets of supporters were publically segregated after a number of incidents at the Bigfellas Stadium recently.

“The atmosphere created by the fans was superb. In front of a national TV audience the supporters did the club proud and I’d like to thank them for their behaviour. We worked closely with our security partners and West Yorkshire Police to ensure the game was incident free and we’ve received some excellent feedback.”
