Roughyed Briscoe out for season

Oldham coach Scott Naylor has confirmed that forward Craig Briscoe will not play again for the club this season.

The player has a knee injury, and requires surgery in order to ensure he is fit for the 2017 campaign.

“We have to look after him and get him ready for next season,” said Naylor.

The Roughyeds will have Sammy Gee available, though, after the RFL Match Review Panel decided that he had no charge to answer.

Gee was placed on report for a late tackle on Callum Phillips of Workington Town.

Meanwhile, Naylor is pleased that his team have managed successive victories over Workington and Swinton.

The Roughyeds coach is not relaxing, however, until his team have secured their safety from relegation.

“We’re on a high, but we’ve still a long way to go until we are mathematically certain of staying up and that’s what counts,” he said.
