Sydney Roosters have confirmed the signing of Catalans forward Jason Ryles on a two year deal.

Ryles joins the Roosters after a one year stint in Super League.

Roosters Head Coach Brian Smith was excited about the arrival of the former St George Illawarra Dragons forward, saying his influence on the relatively young forward pack would prove beneficial for the Club.

“Jason’s experience in combination with other senior players in the forwards such as Lopini Paea and Nate Myles will not only help on the field but will ensure we get the most out of our young players such as Frank-Paul Nuuausala, Anthony Cherrington and Martin Kennedy,” said Smith.

“I think he has a bit to prove and hopefully is in the right frame of mind. His body can definitely handle the rigours of NRL and we had an opening, it seemed like a good fit.”

The former Australian and NSW representative player also expressed his delight at returning to the NRL after previously playing 9 seasons for the Dragons.

“I’m looking forward to a fresh start here again in the NRL and it (the Sydney Roosters) is a pretty good Club to do it at I think,” said Ryles.

He will join the Roosters for training in a fortnight after recently returning from France.
