Roosters Chasing Win 999

The Sydney Roosters will be playing for more than the two competition points when they take on the Newcastle Knights this Sunday afternoon at Bluetongue Central Coast Stadium in Gosford.

Victory will give them 999 wins in the club's 99th season.  No club has ever won 1000 first grade games since the competition commenced in 1908.

Roosters skipper Craig Fitzgibbon played down the opportunity that is looming to be the only club with 1000 wins.

"Victory against the Knights on Sunday certainly has plenty of significance, particularly as we are both foundation clubs but this part of history belongs to all the 1,066 players who have played for the club over our 99 year history".

Ironically, Craig Fitzgibbon with 1210 points is only 8 points shot of Canberra's David Furner's record of points as the highest scoring forward in the history of the game.

Craig Fitzgibbon has a long haul to catch Knight's skipper Andrew Johns, as the highest point scorer in the games history.

The Roosters take on the Knights at 3pm this Sunday at Bluetongue Central Coast Stadium in Gosford.  Gates open at 12.30pm
