After 4 Rounds of Super League, Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and England stand-off Jamie Rooney has been named Engage Super League Player of the Month for February.

The Wildcats have got off to a great start in Super League XII and after their first round defeat to Hull KR, hit back with wins against St Helens, Salford City Reds and Hull FC in the first month of the season.

At the heart of Wakefield’s success has been Jamie Rooney, who has been instrumental in most of the Wildcats tries and has been racking up the points tally by adding on the extras with his superb goal kicking.

On receiving the award, Rooney said “Yes, I’m delighted, it’s been a good start to the season and it’s been more of a team performance than anything else which is pleasing.”

And the stand-off also expressed his gratitude to the fans for their support over the last few weeks “They’re a good set of fans, and that showed against Castleford at the end of last season, when they turned up to support us. Hopefully we can keep playing well and continue doing what we’re doing, because the fans deserve some success.”
