Featherstone have signed utility Colton Roche from Championship rivals Sheffield.

Roche, 20, came through the Leeds academy, and can play at prop, second row and centre.

He said: “The chance to join Featherstone Rovers was something I could not turn down. The ambition of the club is something I want to be part of. John Bastian was a huge part of my decision to join Rovers as I know he will put the time in to help me improve as a players. I cannot wait to get started with this team and be a part of something special.”

Roche made 19 appearances for the Eagles last season as they retained their Championship crown.

He made his international debut for Ireland, qualifying through parentage, last year, featuring in their games against Scotland and England Knights.

Incoming Featherstone Head Coach John Bastian said: “Colton is another young player who has so much potential, he recognises how important moral values are whilst trying to reach his goals of being a recognised Super League player.

“If Colton continues to show the same determination and drive to progress and succeed then he will become a crowd favourite at Featherstone Rovers. We look forward to welcoming him and his family and we will continue to support his development in the game.”
