Rochdale Hornets have announced the signing of St Helens half-back Elliot Jenkins until the end of the 2018 season.

The 19-year-old joined the Saints from Thatto Heath, and has appeared for the under 19s side 22 times since 2017. He has also appeared for the reserve grade.

Jenkins is also a part of the Wales under-19s squad, coached by former Rochdale forward Anthony Walker.

On the signing, head coach Alan Kilshaw told the club’s official website : “Elliott is a player we have been monitoring since we were made aware he could be available at the end of the season. Ant Walker was really impressed with him [at] the Wales camp last week so we made an enquiry to see if we could have him now.

“He will add depth and competition to the halves – something we haven’t had since Lewis Palfrey’s unavailability.”

“Elliott’s signing is further evidence of our committed preparation to finish the season well and build for the Championship Shield.”
