Rochdale Hornets have announced the signing of Aiden Roden from Wigan on a one-year deal.

Blackpool-born Roden represented Lancashire against the Australian Schoolboys in 2018. He has first-team experience with Wigan having featured in their pre-season friendly against Salford in March 2021.

The young hooker joined Championship side Widnes in 2021 on loan. He also spent time on loan with Whitehaven.

He said: “I have already met most of the lads and they’re a class bunch. I can’t wait to get on the field with them.

“The club have got a great set up and training is very professional so I am ready for a great year.”

On the signing, chairman Andy Mazey added: “I am delighted to welcome Aiden to the club. He had a really successful spell in the Championship last year.

“He’s a player I have followed closely as I know his family well so I am sure the supporters will enjoy watching him this year.”
