League 1 club Rochdale Hornets have confirmed their squad numbers for the 2022 season, with former Man of Steel Rangi Chase taking the number six shirt.

The ex-England international joined the Hornets midway through last season from fellow League 1 side West Wales Raiders. He is to partner Lewis Sheridan in the halves, with the latter wearing seven.

Ireland international Gregg McNally, who joined the club from Whitehaven, takes the number one shirt at Rochdale.

Former Wigan youngster Cian Tyrer, who spent time at Newcastle Thunder in 2021, has been given the number two shirt. His winger partner, Dan Nixon, gets the number five.

Former Tonga and New Zealand international Fuifui Moimoi – a fan favourite at Rochdale – will don the number eight in 2022.

Gavin Bennion, who will be hoping to represent Wales at next year’s World Cup, will wear number 10; while former Wales international Sean Penkywicz retains his number nine shirt.

Paul Brearley, who came out of retirement to join the Hornets last season, takes the number 12 after deciding to play on in 2022. The towering forward had agreed to join Toronto Wolfpack before they withdrew from Super League.

Fijian forward Joe Taira will wear the 13 jersey for Matt Calland’s side next season.

Hooker or half-back Connor Aspey has joined Rochdale on a season-long loan from Super League side Salford. He will wear the number 14.

The Hornets have dedicated their number 15 jersey to Freddie Lowe. Freddie was a three-year-old Rochdale supporter who sadly lost his brave battle with cancer earlier this year.

Wearing 17 for Rochdale in 2022 is Cobi Green. The former Bradford, Coventry and Swinton half-back represented Wales at the Nines World Cup in 2019.

Malta international Louis Singleton takes the number 22. Young forward Tom Whur, who has signed a season-long loan with Rochdale from Hull KR, will wear 26.
