Rochdale have announced that Scottish international Oscar Thomas has joined the club from Championship rivals Swinton until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old had made seven appearances for Stuart Littler’s side in 2019, scoring one try and kicking 13 goals.

Thomas has also played for London Broncos, London Skolars, Bradford and Sheffield Eagles during his eight years in the game, amassing over 300 career points.

The half-back joins a Hornets side rock-bottom of the Betfred Championship table, while Swinton are four points ahead in 11th.

Thomas is Matt Calland’s eighth acquisition since taking charge at the beginning of the month, with only Paddy Flynn departing the Crown Oil Arena.

On the signing, Calland said: “We’re delighted to have Oscar on board. It’s no secret we have been struggling at half back.

“Oscar is a great talker and he will give us an extra dimension with the ball.”
