Kristian Woolf backs Paul Wellens to land Saints job.

Outgoing St Helens Head Coach Kristian Woolf would endorse Paul Wellens as the next Head Coach of the club. (St Helens Star.)

Woolf told St Helens Star:”What I would say is that I would 100 per cent endorse Paul Wellens as the next coach. I came here three years ago knowing what he had achieved as a player but not knowing him as a coach or a person. I have grown to respect him extremely highly as a coach.”

Rugby Australia looking at Roosters teen

Rugby Australia are planning to offer Sydney Roosters winger Joseph Suaali’i a five-year contract with $10m. (Daily Telegraph).

The Daily Telegraph report they are also looking at Tom Trbojevic, Latrell Mitchell, Cameron Murray, Ryan Papenhuyzen, Matt Burton and Nelson Asofa Solomona.

England hoping to select Herbie Farnworth

England are still hopeful Brisbane centre Herbie Farnworth will be fit enough to play at the World Cup. (Canberra Times).

Farnworth is currently out with a torn bicep, an injury he picked up back in June.

Black and Whites confirm Will Smith to depart

Hull Head Coach Brett Hodgson has confirmed Will Smith will return to Australia following the expiry of his short-term deal. (Hull Daily Mail).

Hodgson told Hull Daily Mail:”He’s got a family back in Australia and that’s important to him. He’ll be leaving with our thanks and our blessing pretty much in the middle of next week.”

Castleford suffer Danny Richardson injury blow

Castleford Tigers are fearing the worst for half-back Danny Richardson following his injury sustained in the defeat to Salford.

Head coach Lee Radford has confirmed a suspected ACL injury to the 25-year-old, who was seen on crutches following the 50-10 home loss.
