Rob Burrow enjoys day out at the races

Rob Burrow enjoyed a day out at Doncaster races on Wednesday afternoon alongside Barrie McDermott.

The pair were there to cheer on Beep Beep Burrow for his second race, having first raced earlier in January at the same venue.

The Good Racing company also presented Burrow with a donation of £77,777 for the Rob Burrow 7 Discretionary Trust and the MND Association. 

Jake Connor’s potential return date

Connor, 28, has been recovering from a knee injury during the off-season, having returned to the Giants from Hull.

Wakefield boss on Murphy speculation

Murphy, 20, has been heavily linked with a move to Sydney Roosters for the 2024 season.

Minards told Rugby League Live: “If the rumours are true, and Lewis is off to Sydney next year, we’d be really proud of that and take it as a bit of a compliment to our youth system.”

Wales stalwart retires

Wales’ record international point scorer and Wheelchair Rugby League player Andrew Higgins has announced his retirement from the game after a stellar nine-year career.

The 24-year old Wrexham-born player, who made his debut for North Wales Crusaders in 2014, is moving to the USA for work purposes.

Dewsbury make new signing

League 1 side Dewsbury Rams have announced the signing of half-back Luke Littlewood for the 2023 campaign.

Littlewood, 22, has been offered a contract after impressing for the side in pre-season, featuring in all their friendlies. He came through the ranks at Bradford and previously played for Rochdale in 2021.

TV coverage confirmed for Championship clash

York’s home Championship tie with Barrow will be broadcast live on the RFL’s Our League platform this weekend.

The Round 4 fixture takes place on Sunday afternoon (3pm kick-off) at the LNER Community Stadium.

Supporters can now purchase passes for an early bird price of £4.95.

Former Wigan, Hull, Hull KR and Widnes outside-back and England international Shaun Briscoe turns 40 today (February 23).

Wales international and Widnes hooker Matty Fozard needs one appearance to reach 200 for his career. The Vikings host Halifax next Monday in the Championship.
