Supporters from around the world loved yesterday’s Wheelchair World Cup opening night live from London. Spain took on Ireland in the opener, with the former claiming a 55-32 victory. England then defeated Australia 38-8 in front of a record crowd of 3,033 at the Copper Box Arena

The action continues on Friday morning as France face Wales before Scotland take on USA in a double-header in Sheffield.

Stanley Gene makes Super League switch

Stanley Gene has linked up with Tony Smith once more at Hull FC for the 2023 Super League season as assistant coach.

Gene, 48, will join club legend Gareth Ellis and Emerging Talent coach Michael Shenton as Smith’s assistant coaches in 2023.

Mikey Lewis undergoes surgery

Hull KR star Mikey Lewis has undergone minor surgery for an ankle issue picked up during the 2022 season.

The 21-year-old sustained a syndesmosis ankle injury in KR’s 30-22 win over Warrington in July. He is expected to be back in time for the club’s pre-season training camp in Tenerife. 

Former Bradford captain makes League 1 move

Former Bradford Bulls captain Steve Crossley has signed with Hunslet for the 2023 League 1 season.

The 32-year-old left Odsal Stadium at the conclusion of the 2022 campaign. He has signed a one-year deal under head coach Alan Kilshaw. 

Josh Woods finds new club

Former Wigan and Leigh half-back Josh Woods has joined Batley Bulldogs for the 2023 season.

The 24-year-old joins from Championship side Newcastle Thunder, who will return to a part-time model in 2023.

Popular sports pundit Chris Kamara has shared the most recent development update at Wakefield’s ground ahead of the 2023 Super League season.
