Ritchie Hawkyard out for Swinton

Ritchie Hawkyard is out of Swinton’s Championship clash at Dewsbury on Sunday.

The Lions captain is still struggling with a dead leg picked up in the win against Crusaders last week.

Jordan Burke, the Warrington dual-reg full-back, returns to the side after being sidelined for two months with an ankle ligament injury.

Coach Gary Chambers said: “Ritchie is a special player. He is exemplary on the pitch and in the dressing room and he will be missed.

“But squads are there to deal with injuries and we will.”

David Mills and Gene Ormsby are missing through suspension while Liam Hulme is out with a sternum injury but Glenn Riley has returned from partner club Warrington.

Swinton will play Doncaster at home in the quarter final of the Northern Rail Cup on the weekend on June 15/16.

Chambers said: “it’s great to get a home draw and it gives us a chance to work towards something in this competition.

“We just need to put in some 80 minute performances and we will be ok.”
