Ricky Leutele looks set to leave Huddersfield at the end of the current season.

The 32-year-old centre remains off-contract for 2023 and is yet to sign the new improved deal from the Giants.

Head coach Ian Watson says the club are now preparing to look at other targets after not being told by the player or his agent about his future.

Huddersfield recently announced the signing of Fiji captain Kevin Naiqama on a two-year deal from 2023 earlier this month.

Watson provides Ricky Leutele latest

He said: “We’ve got to a point where we’ve got to move on. Ricky Leutele has not give us any indication now, so it is what it is.

“Ricky has not come and told us what he’s doing. That’s up to Ricky to come and deliver that message to us at some point.

“We’re looking at other targets now. We spoke to his agents a couple of times and he’s told us that he’s going to go somewhere else.

“Ricky at this moment in time still hasn’t told us but we can’t just keep waiting all the time. We want to make sure we’re a top club and a big thing for us is at some points it doesn’t work out and you need to move on from that.

“Ricky has kept his cards close to his chest which is his prerogative.

“It’s his career and he needs to be the one who drives that. When he wants to tell us, he’ll let us know where he’s going.”

Leutele is currently sidelined with injury but Watson is confident that the star centre will return before the end of the regular season.
