Richard Silverwood to referee Grand Final

Richard Silverwood will referee Saturday’s Super League Grand Final between Leeds and Warrington at Old Trafford.

Silverwood, 36, took charge of the 2010 Grand Final between Wigan and St Helens, and was also the man in the middle at the 2006 and 2010 Challenge Cup finals.

He will be assisted by James Child and Clint Sharrad, while Phil Bentham will be the video referee.

Earlier this season, Silverwood was the referee when Leeds beat Warrington 26-18.

Warrington won five of seven matches in 2012 when Silverwood was referee, compared to Leeds’ three out of six.

The Dewsbury based referee also took charge of the Anzac Test between New Zealand and Australia in April.
