Richard Agar impressed with fitness levels of Leeds players ahead of Super League restart

Leeds coach Richard Agar has been pleased with the fitness levels of his players ahead of Super League’s restart on August 2.

Super League returns this Sunday as the Rhinos take on Huddersfield at Headingley in the competition’s first game back since play was suspended in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Agar said: “There is so much unknown about it and while we may have lost some momentum with the season being interrupted when it was, the players were highly motivated in those four months off and we left with some good thoughts about our performances so I think those games motivated our guys during the break.

“Most of our squad have come back aerobically very fit and we’ve had some guys show some terrific gains with what they have been doing around their diet.

“There is a bit of unknown in there (surrounding the restart) but every team is operating from the same rules and restrictions.

“We’ve narrowed it down to around 19 or 20 at the moment but we’ve still not decided our team. Jack Walker won’t be back, he is still three or four weeks away with his foot injury.”
