Rhinos seek MP support for Eastwood deal

Local MP Greg Mulholland is assisting Leeds Rhinos as they attempt to ensure new signing Greg Eastwood arrives in time for the Super League kick-off.nn21-year-old Eastwood requires a British passport but his application may not be processed in time for next weeks clash with Celtic Crusaders.nnRhinos chief executive Gary Hetherington told the Yorkshire Evening Post: “Mulholland’s team have been very good and are trying to move things along. All the information has been received and it’s simply a matter of waiting.” nnEastwood joined the club during the close season from NRL giants Brisbane Broncos and will replace England international Gareth Ellis who moved to Australian club Wests Tigers. nnBrian McClennan, the Leeds coach, admits he is unsure whether he will be able to call on Eastwood for the season opener.nn”I don’t know – I’m not going to make guesses,” he told BBC Radio Leeds. nn”Greg is hugely disappointed that this is happening – all he wants to do is get on a plane and get out here and meet his new team-mates.”
