Rhinos lose Cross to suspension

Leeds prop Ben Cross has been suspended for one match after being found guility of making a late and high challenge.

The Australian was charged following a tackle on Warrington star Richie Myler during the Rhinos 40-24 defeat to the Wolves on Saturday.

Cross pleaded guilty to the Grade B offence and will miss his side’s match against Salford on Friday. He was also fined £300.

The Rhinos are already missing the injured pair of Jamie Peacock and Kylie Leuluai so the absence of Cross increases coach Brian McDermott’s front row headache.

Harlequins centre David Howell also appeared before the RFL Disciplinary Committee after being charged with making dangerous contact with Huddersfield’s Leroy Cudjoe.

Howell claimed it was accidential but he was found guilty of the Grade B offence. He was banned for one match and fined £300.
