Rhinos half-back joins York

Young Leeds Rhinos half back Gareth Moore will join York City Knights with immediate effect after the club agreed to release the Academy star to join the Knights.

Moore was due to be out of contract at the end of the current campaign but the club have agreed to terminate his contract to allow him to sign a permenant deal with the Knights.

Moore was the only ever present for the Rhinos Junior Academy in 2006 and was the side’s second highest try scorer with a total of 11 tries over the season and with 55 goals he was the team’s top points scorer.

In 2007 he had another impressive campaign, scoring 8 tries and 23 goals in 19 appearances. He ended the season on a high by captaining the Junior Academy to victory in their Grand Final match against St Helens, in an inspirational performance that saw him score a spectacular try to help secure the win. He was also part of the Rhinos U19 side who took on Australian side Penrith Panthers in the Carnegie Academy World Club Challenge.

Last year he made a further 15 appearances in the academy scoring 11 tries and 20 goals.

This year he has made 13 appearances for the Reserve Academy scoring eight tries and 25 goals playing mainly at scrum half but also recently at hooker.

Before joining the Rhinos Moore played for Middleton and Churwell.
