RFU greenlight Solomona move

The Rugby Football Union say they will not stop Sale signing Castleford winger Denny Solomona.

Solomona is set to face legal action from Castleford as he is trying to break his contract to force a move to Sale.

The RFU, England‘s governing rugby union body, say they respect RFL concerns regarding the “sanctity of contracts” but do not have the jurisdiction to act.

“The employment status with a club in a different sport is a matter between that club and the player,” a RFU spokesman told BBC Sport.

Solomona has been added to Sale’s European Champions Cup squad, but his signing has yet to be announced.

The Kiwi is contracted to Castleford until the end of 2018.
