Sheffield Eagles have confirmed that they conducted a successful meeting with the RFL regarding the club’s plans for a new stadium.

The meeting, which took place on January 15 at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield, was attended by Eagles directors Ian Anniss and Ian Swire.

RFL chief operating officer Ralph Rimmer and Karen Moorhouse, the governing body’s director of operations and legal, both reacted positively to the stadium plans.

“The RFL have spent time on the project and are greatly encouraged by what they have seen and heard,” said Rimmer.

“It would appear that there is a real momentum behind not only the new stadium but also the site development in general and it has the potential to deliver something very special for rugby league in the city of Sheffield.”
