RFL set to extend Bulls Super League licence

The RFL are set to confirm that Bradford’s Super League licence has been extended until the end of 2014.

Bulls owner Omar Khan and co-chairman Gerry Sutcliffe met with officials earlier this month to discuss the club’s progress since they were awarded a one-year probationary licence last September.

Director of licensing and standards Blake Solly, who was recently appointed to the RFL’s independent board of directors, will recommend the extension of the Bulls licence, although they will only receive 50% of their share of Sky money next season.

It is also reported that Bradford want to buy back the lease on Odsal from the RFL as soon as possible.

Last month, Sutcliffe said: “The indications the RFL are giving us is that they’re happy with our progress and we don’t expect there to be any problems.”

Khan and Sutcliffe took over the club at the end of August, after the club had spent several weeks in administration.

Bradford are keen for confirmation sooner rather than later so that they can start to prepare for 2014.

They currently sit sixth in the Super League table, recording six wins and two draws in their 12 games so far this season.

The Bulls also booked their place in the fifth round of the Tetley’s Challenge Cup, with a comfortable 70-10 win at Rochdale at the weekend.
