At the RFL Annual General Meeting held at Huddersfield’s John Smith’s Stadium, on Friday, CEO Nigel Wood reflected on a great 2015.

“Financially, 2015 was a very strong year with the highest Turnover recorded in non-World Cup years since 2011 and investment around the sport at the highest ever level,” he said.

The Annual Report revealed that the RFL posted a pre-tax profit for the fourteenth year in succession, which in 2015 was £201,000.

Year-on-year turnover increased by 33%, mainly due to increased broadcast and match income.

The funds distributed around the sport were at the highest ever levels, which has provided a level of financial stability around the professional game not seen for some time.
