RFL extend Bradford’s Super League licence
The RFL have agreed to extend Bradford’s Super League licence until the end of the 2014 season.
The Bulls were granted a 12-month licence to compete in this season’s Super League after they were taken over by Omar Khan and his consortium in September.
They had previously been in administration, with the story of financial woe grabbing the headlines for much of 2012, and missed out on the play-offs following a six-point deduction.
An RFL statement said: “It was always planned that this situation would be reviewed in April 2013 for a decision on the club’s position in 2014.
“The decision follows a detailed review of the progress made by Bradford since the club was taken under new ownership in August 2012. The licence has been granted under the same terms as the award of the licence for the 2013 season.”
Super League clubs are meeting in Huddersfield today to thrash out possible plans to change the format of the competition beyond the 2014 season.
