RFL clarify Super 8s stats

Correspondent

Record keeper and stats obessessives will be be pleased to learn that the RFL have clarified how statistics will be collected and recorded during the Super 8s section of the sesaon.

For the Super League section of the competition, Super 8s statistics (appearances, tries, goals etc) for all players in the top 8 will be added to their totals accumulated during the regular Super League season.

This is because those players are playing in the section of the competition which determines the destination of the Super League title.

For the Qualifiers section, which brings together Super League and Championship clubs, the statistics from the Super 8s will be kept separate from the figures accumulated during the regular season.

In the Championship Shield, the statitistics recorded by the Championship‘s bottom eight teams will be kept separate from the numbers recorded during the regular season. This is due to the Championship being split into two divisions.

For statistical purposes, the 2015 scoring totals should now be regarded as having been completed after round 23.

This makes Liam Kay (33) the competition’s top try-scorer and Martyn Ridyard the top goals (117) and points (263) scorer for 2015.
