Revenge drives Saints

Mike Rush has called on his own ‘Avengers’ to assemble this weekend against rivals Wigan.

St Helens travel to the DW Stadium on Saturday for a place in the Challenge Cup semi-final and Rush thinks that Wigan’s Good Friday victory over his side has given them extra motivation.

Caretaker-coach Rush was quoted in the Liverpool Echo saying “I think it does have a bearing. We owe them one.”

He added further spice by saying, “Shaun Wane likes to make the point that they’re not keen on us, well the feeling is mutual.”

On the club’s website he also sent out a rallying cry to the fans, encouraging them to get to the DW and bring their vocals.

“We want to come out at the DW to ‘Come on you Saints’ because that will urge us on.”

“So my message is think of the team, buy a ticket and get behind us.”
