Returning duo to boost Hull KR’s options

Hull KR’s Andrew Heffernan believes the return of two key players from injury will be a big boost to the club’s hopes of securing promotion from the Championship.

Outside-backs Thomas Minns and Jake Butler-Fleming will boost Rovers’ boss Tim Sheens’ options for Sunday’s trip to Batley Bulldogs and Heffernan is happy to have the duo back again.

“That’s great for us to see Thomas and Jake back,” Heffernan told the Hull Daily Mail. “It will inject that enthusiasm into others and when they come back, they’ll want to make their mark. That’s always healthy for the team.

“There will be an increase in determination and attitude this week at Batley and we need to really ramp it up. We were good in parts against Rochdale, but our execution let us down and it was a hard-fought battle with the ‘niggly’ factor too.

“Any team is going to have its ebbs and flows but we have to be better in our focus. The Championship is the main horse that we need to be riding, and if we’re going to beat Super League teams at the end of the year, then we’re going to have to be consistently good in what we’re producing.

“I’ve heard about the famous Batley ground with its hill – but it’s part and parcel of the Championship. We’ve just got to go and get the job done again.”
