Residency period to be extended

The residency period to become eligible to play international rugby league for a country is being lengthened from three to five years.

The Rugby League International Federation (RLIF) is bringing in the change as of October 1 this year.

The residency period has been a hot topic after Fijian Semi Radradra qualified and played for Australia earlier this year.

The RLIF made the decision after a meeting on September 6. The change has come in to affect this year’s Four Nation and next tear’s World Cup.
