Leigh Centurions forward Reni Maitua will hang up his boots at the end of the 2016 season.

Maitua has been a first-grader since 2004 after making his NRL debut with Cantebury.

The back-rower has played for the Bulldogs, Sharks, Eels, Featherstone, Salford and Leigh in a long and eventful career.

The 34-year old won an NRL grand final with Canterbury in 2004 and played one Test for Australia in 2006.

He represented Samoa at the 2013 World Cup and was banned for two years after testing positive to a prohibted substance in 2009.

Maitua has also battled depression throughout his career.

The forward posted on social media: “Atmospheres like yesterday is one of the things I’ll miss the most. 10 more games till the boots go up for good. #AllGoodThingsComeToAnEnd.”
