Remarkable Sinfield plays on

Leeds skipper Kevin Sinfield is free to continue his remarkable scoring run, after being cleared to play against Salford this Friday.

Sinfield, 31, has scored points in the Rhinos’ last 47 matches, and he is now just 15 points short of Lewis Jones’ all time points scoring record for Leeds, set back in 1964 at 2,920.

He suffered a dead leg in last Friday’s win over Warrington, but following treatment by the Rhinos medical staff, he will be fit to play.

Head Coach Brian McDermott said: “Kevin is the complete professional and does whatever the medical staff ask of him to make sure he is right for the weekend. He will be ok for Friday because he looks after his body so well.”

The last game in which Sinfield did not score for Leeds was a 38-6 win at Castleford, when Sinfield was unavailable for selection.

Last season, he scored 286 points in Super League to help Leeds to their fourth Grand Final success in five years.
