Reds make double swoop

Salford have completed the signings of Chris Nero and Vinnie Anderson as coach Shaun McRae continues to reshape his squad for next season.

The duo join fellow new signing Luke Patten, who recently joined the club from NRL side Canterbury Bulldogs on a three-year deal.

Australian centre Nero recently turned down the offer of a new contract at Bradford Bulls, who he will leave at the end of the current campaign before joining the Reds on a three-year deal, while back rower Anderson will arrive on a two-year contract from next season.

Nero holds an Italian passport and Anderson has UK Ancestry so neither player will count on the club’s overseas quota.

Salford’s football director Steve Simms told the club’s official website: “Chris is an outstanding player with plenty of Super League experience. He will give us a lot of extra strike-power in our outside backs with his running off our forwards.”

On Anderson, Simms added: “Vinnie is another very experienced signing and he is a powerful player that will greatly add to our impact next season. The signings we are making  show our intentions clearly to everybody, and we will not be stopping here. We are still looking to bring further new faces on board in the very near future.”
