Rea wants just one round of fixtures at Easter

London Broncos coach Tony Rea wants to see one round of fixtures played out over the Easter weekend, rather than two.

The Broncos suffered two defeats, to Catalan and Warrington, and played the Wolves without several players who featured in Thursday’s clash with the Dragons.

He handed Super League debuts to James Woodburn-Hall and Erjon Dollapi, but London were ultimately outclassed by Warrington, going down 54-20.

Rea said: “The theory is everyone gets a home game, but the second one has just traditionally not been a quality game, not because we’re resting players but you just get two tired teams.

“I’d like to see us play a game Thursday, a game Friday, a game Saturday, a game Sunday and a game on Monday. Just spread it out over the week and let us all enjoy a good Easter with some quality games.”

Rea, Widnes counterpart Denis Betts and Hull KR‘s Craig Sandercock have led the calls to scrap the Easter weekend double header.

All three fielded weakened sides in one-sided losses on Monday.
