Rankin settling in at full-back for Hull FC

Jordan Rankin is enjoying the new lease of life that playing at full-back has given to his career.

The 23-year-old played a key role in the Airlie Birds’ home win over Catalans Dragons on Friday evening, grabbing a try in the 33-22 victory.

“I’m seeing a lot of the ball at the minute which is how I like to play and I put that down to Leon Pryce and Marc Sneyd,” Rankin told his club’s official website.

“When they want me on the shoulder they get me, so I just go where the ball is and make that extra man that fits into the way we want to play with the extra pivot out of the back, which will give us more opportunities to score tries.

“I love assisting for tries as much as I do scoring them and I’m getting a good mix of that at the moment, with the boys on the wings finishing them off for me.

“Having that extra person out the back, I think gives our attack a litle bit of unpredictability which is how I like to base my game.

“I like to be unpredictable around the ruck with the ball in my hands in space. Credit to the halves and back rowers on Friday night for giving me that space to play that way.

“Every week I feel more comfortable playing with these guys, I’m settling into that full back role and I’m sure I will only get better each week.”
