Ralph Rimmer appointed to RFL board of directors

RFL chief operating officer Ralph Rimmer has been appointed to the sport’s independent Board of Directors.

The appointment is in line with one of the key recommendations of the Watkins Review of Rugby League Governance, which was presented to clubs at a meeting of the RL Council in July 2012. The Watkins Review recommended that the Board be strengthened by the appointment of a Non-Executive Chairman and additional Executive Board members.

RFL Chairman Brian Barwick said: “We are delighted to endorse the recommendation  of RFL Chief Executive Nigel Wood that Ralph Rimmer be appointed to the Board. In my brief time as Chairman I have seen the contribution Ralph makes to our organisation and his promotion is well deserved.”

RFL Chief Executive Nigel Wood said: “Ralph is a talented and hard-working member of the Executive. He has a deep and sincere passion for the sport, in particular for its geographical expansion and undeniably has the absolute confidence of our stakeholders.”

Ralph Rimmer said: “This appointment is a huge honour for me and I look forward to continuing to work collaboratively and collegiately with all of our clubs and stakeholders to make the sport the best it can possibly be.”
