Raleigh extends Wildcats stay

Wakefield prop Andy Raleigh has signed a one-year contract extension that will keep him at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium until the end of 2014.

Raleigh, 32, has made 35 Super League appearances for the Wildcats since joining from Huddersfield 18 months ago.

He said: “I’ve enjoyed myself here and the way things went last year, we had a great season.

“I’m still enjoying it and want to be playing well for Wakefield.  I’m more than happy to sign again.

“Personally, I don’t think it could have gone any better.  Last year, making the play-offs and personally I had a decent year as well and I felt my form was as good as it had ever been.”

Raleigh started his career at Sheffield, moving on to Hull KR before stepping up to Super League with the Giants in 2006.

Wakefield coach Richard Agar added: “Andy was very consistent last year and we feel he is getting back to his best.

“His experience and consistency have been strong assets to us in his time here and we’re glad to have that for another season.”
