West Wales Raiders have signed Wales international stand-off or hooker Steve Parry.

Parry, 29, is a seasoned campaigner in League One, playing more than 120 games for South Wales Scorpions and Gloucestershire All Golds.

He has also won nine caps for Wales, including three appearances at the recent World Cup.

Raiders chairman, Andrew Thorne, said: “Adding Steve to the roster is a great play from the club, Steve will add valuable experience in helping the club find its identity.

“Steve is a Welsh lad and has represented his country at the highest level and we are hoping he will help the young players achieve the same as he as.

“The club now has a number of Welsh internationals in the team and with a bit of luck we will hopefully see a few more return home.

“We set a target to maintain the club as a Welsh club full of Welsh players and we are on track to achieve this.”

West Wales’ season got off to a false start at the weekend when their home game against Newcastle Thunder was postponed due to the doctor carrying incorrect medical supplies.
