Radford pleased as defence digs in

Hull head coach Lee Radford says the result was all that mattered after Friday’s dour 14-10 success over Huddersfield.

The victory ensured Hull finished the regular season in the top four and sends Radford’s side into next week’s Challenge Cup semi-final against Leeds in a buoyant mood.

“It wasn’t pretty but it was really intense,” said Radford. “We’ve achieved our goal of making the top four after 23 rounds.

“How we started the game was what we want to take into next week. We had to play for eighty minutes and ultimately we strangled them in terms of possession.

“Our front-line defence was much better and that’s what we asked for.”
