Faumuina – who made three appearances during a loan spell at Hull FC at the end of last season – is Quins’ first new signing for engage Super League XII.

And Faumuina said he was delighted at his move to Twickenham Stoop, saying: "I am delighted to be joining what I know to be a very professional organisation."

"Quins have a load of potential and we can be a major force in Super League. I see this as a chance for me to improve my own game and to help the Harlequins club."

Faumuina played 88 times for the Warriors scoring 18 tries and 33 goals; but was foced to sit out the end of the 2006 NRL season with a wrist injury.

"I've had good talks with head coach Brian McDermott and I like the way he approaches the game. I think I can make a very positive contribution to Quins and to Super League” he continued.

"The injury has healed well and I will be able to resume full training in a couple of weeks."

Quins boss Brian McDermott believes that the signing is an indication of where the club is going to be in 2007.

"Sione is very talented player and he has a proven ability to break the line," he said. "As well as back row he has been very effective at both stand off and centre.”

“I think this addition is another indication that we are preparing to have a very good season in 2007."
