Purtill pleased with Giants progress

Huddersfield assistant coach Keiron Purtill was very pleased with the way the Giants played during their 44-14 victory at Wakefield Wildcats at the weekend.

The Giants are yet to really find their best form in 2015, but they are getting closer to their best, according to Purtill.

“We are very happy, it was good to get the win,” he told the club’s official website.

“I thought we had a fantastic start to the game.

“I thought the game went scrappy for about 15 to 20 minutes but the good thing from our point is that we played our way out of it and scored some good tries in the end.

“Where we are now as a team compared to where we were at the beginning of the season is really pleasing to see.”

Next up for the Giants is a trip across the Pennines to face Warrington Wolves on Friday evening.

“We have got a quick turnaround against a good team on Friday and we needed to finish strong against Wakefield to give us a platform to work with,” Purtill added.

“It was a little bit frustrating from a coaching point of view. We are always looking for perfection as coaches and we’ll take a look at the video and see what we can do better.

“Defensively I think we are going to have to be a lot better.”
