Prince cleared for Titans return

Gold Coast skipper Scott Prince has been cleared to face Newcastle after overcoming an ankle problem.

Prince passed a fitness test and will replace rookie halfback Jordan Rankin for the clash with the Knights at Hunter Stadium on Saturday.

“It looks at this stage he’ll play. He got through the session ok and barring any sort of mishaps I expect him to take his spot,’’ Titans coach John Cartwright told the club’s official website.

“It is a boost. We were expecting him not to play so when you get something you’re not expecting, it’s a bonus for us because he’s been in pretty good form for us over the last month.’’

Meanwhile, Origin trio Nate Myles, Ashley Harrison and Greg Bird will also appear for the Titans after coming through Wednesday’s clash unscathed.

“They didn’t train today, they’re still recovering but they told me straight after the game they were keen to play so that’s a good sign for us,’’ said Cartwright.

“I really think they just continued their form that they showed with the Titans this year. In a side that hasn’t been able to string together wins, those guys have been super consistent and I think they picked up another cog the other night.’’
