Preview: Toulouse v Keighley

Toulouse coach Gilles Dumas will assess Mathieu Griffi, Mike Mitchell, Constant Villegas and Sebastien Payan before finalising his team to face newly-promoted Keighley.

Last week the Cougars lost 34-12 against Leigh but coach Barry Eaton was encouraged by some of his side’s display.

Eaton said: “We felt as if we deserved a bonus point but we also contributed to the reasons why we didn’t get a bonus point. They scored four tries out of their six from our own errors or penalties.”

On Toulouse, Eaton added: “They’re a patient side who are willing to just play a game of chess. They’ll play their sets out, complete and put in a good kicking game. They feed off scraps and errors from the opposition. We’ve got to make sure we’re disciplined with and without the ball.

“Going to play rugby league in a different country is a brand new experience for just about all of my squad. To be away from home for three days is very new to the players. Hopefully I’ll be able to pass on some of my experiences from travelling abroad with Wales. Although it’s new, it’s something we’ll hopefully enjoy. Our preparation has been spot on.”

Scott Law (groin) will not be travelling to France but Cougars are boosted by the possible return of Brendon Rawlins following a shoulder complaint.
