Carl Sneyd (knee) and Tommy Grundy (shoulder) are definitely ruled out for the Lions.

Swinton coach Paul Smith has warned his team that they cannot take the Scorpions lightly. “They’ve started with a bit of a bang. Most of the game’s they’ve played in have been close and they’ve won a few games already.”

He added: “I’m very disappointed with where we are at the moment. Hopefully we can get to where we want to be over the next few weeks.”

Prop Neil Cherryholme is likely to make his Swinton debut after joining on loan from Co-operative Championship side Halifax.

Geraint Davies will make his South Wales debut but Barrie Phillips is ruled out due to personal reasons.

Scorpions coach Anthony Seibold said: “This will be a tough test on the road against a side full of Super League experience in guys like Holroyd, Smith, Watson and Southern.

“We have trained really well in preparation and have concentrated on our own game in the lead into this match. We have set ourselves some areas we know that we need improvement and want to continue showing that we belong in this competition.”
