Jack Howieson (bicep) and Jonny Woodcock (knee) have been ruled out for the rest of the season as Eagles coach Mark Aston faces a challenging four days.

Sheffield host Batley on Wednesday and then take on Toulouse on Saturday. Six points would put Sheffield on the brink of the Co-operative Championship play-off places.

Aston said: “It’s not been an easy few weeks. People forget we have played the best teams in this competition in recent weeks and every game we could have won.

“A lot of teams will see the 64-24 win over Whitehaven and take notice. They will see that Sheffield are starting to hit their straps now.”

Menzie Yere (cheekbone) faces a late fitness test while Sheffield pair Sam Barlow and Mitchell Stringer will serve the final game of their two-match suspension.

Batley’s Gareth Moore (hip) and Mark Toohey (ankle and dead leg) are both doubtful for Wednesday’s trip to Bramall Lane.
