Pat Walker will be assessed this week after his return from injury last week was delayed following an accident at work.

Walker was due to make his comeback from a broken arm only to crush his finger in the course of his day job.

Despite that blow, Dewsbury Rams coach Warren Jowitt was left delighted with his side’s 38-22 Northern Rail Cup victory over Batley.

Jowitt said: “I was really pleased with the boys’ performance. We had a 10-minute lull late in the first half, but for the first 30 minutes we dominated and we came out after half time firing on all cylinders.

“My team’s very resilient. They won’t ever give up. They’ll keep plugging away, and that’s why we came up with the result.”

He added: “It’s a big game against Sheffield. We had a great win (last week), but we have to come back down to earth because Sheffield are on song at the moment and playing really well.

“We’re going to have to be on guard against them.”

Eagles duo Jack Howieson and Danny Mills continue to edge nearer to fitness.

Sheffield Eagles coach Mark Aston is hoping to claim a fourth win in five league games when his side travels to Dewsbury on Sunday.
