Pre-season round-up: Ridyard shines, Featherstone impress & Dewsbury beat Batley

Martyn Ridyard in action for Leigh

Rugby league returned for some clubs over the weekend, so we’ve provided you with a recap of the pre-season action.

In a game that was streamed on Our League, Martyn Ridyard put in a man of the match display to help his new club Swinton beat Bradford 26-22 at the Tetley’s Stadium in Dewsbury.

Jack Hansen, Mike Butt, Geronimo Doyle, Deane Meadows and Rhodri Lloyd scored for the Lions, while Brandon Pickersgill, Ross Oakes, Matty Dawson-Jones and George Flanagan went over for the Bulls.

Dewsbury beat Batley 22-20 in the first Heavy Woollen derby of the year at the Fox’s Biscuits Stadium.

Aaron Hall, Matty Fleming, Adam Ryder and Davey Dixon got on the scoresheet for the Rams, while Jodie Broughton, Dale Morton, Luke Hooley and Lucas Walshaw scored for the Bulldogs.

Featherstone ran in 12 tries against Oldham to claim a 58-10 victory at the Millennium Stadium.

Ben Blackmore (2), Tom Holmes, James Harrison, Brad Day (2), Connor Jones, Nu Brown, Dean Parata (2), John Davies and Jacob Doyle crossed for Rovers.

Catalans eased past a French Select XIII 50-18 at the Stade Aime Giral, with Sam Tomkins putting in a superb performance.

Tom Davies (2), Paul Seguier, Sam Tomkins, Mike McMeeken, Robin Brochon, Jordan Dezaria, Romain Franco and Corentin Le Cam scored for Steve McNamara’s side.
