Powell wants Tigers squad to put things right

Castleford coach Daryl Powell is hoping that the squad he has named to face Leeds on Thursday can put right some of the wrongs from last week’s dreadful performance at Warrington.

The Tigers were hammered 56-12 at the Haliwell Jones Stadium, and Powell wants to see a massive improvement.

“We have had a really honest week since the game against Warrington where we let ourselves down badly from minute one to minute 80,” he said.

“We have worked hard as a team to set high standards in everything we do and having slipped off of those standards, Thursday night is a game we need to see a response in to fix some things up and start moving in the right direction.

“I know how all Castleford fans look forward to this game and to have it at Easter time will give it a great feel, with a special atmosphere for the players to perform in.

“There will probably be a full stadium which is great to see and creates a positive vibe at the club.”
