Powell wants Castleford in future World Club Series

Castleford Tigers coach Daryl Powell wants to see his team participating in future editions of the World Club Series.

The event this year saw Super League‘s representatives lose all three games, but there were sell-out crowds and bags of media attention for the sport on the back it.

“I thought the World Club Challenge series was great,” Powell told reporters.

“Obviously the last game was really disappointing, you don’t want your top teams to get turned over in that way. But the other two games were close and I thought both English sides were unlucky.

“Both would say they didn’t quite play as well as they wanted to in difficult conditions, but they were very, very close and I was hoping for a similar sort of game for St Helens, but it wasn’t quite to be.

“It’s definitely something we’d like to be involved with at Castleford. It’s a great concept and hopefully it’s going to be around for a while, there’s some consistency to it and we can be part of it in the future.”
